Life is stressful. Especially for adult women. We juggle, we hustle, we care for others, we have responsibilities, bills, and so on. Years ago, this concept of “self-care” became trendy. In many ways it is a great concept, if you do not take care of yourself, how can you care for others?
Take time out for yourself, pamper, treat, improve, explore, relax, rest, etc… The idea behind self-care is so well-meaning. Yet often, self-care takes time, and sometimes money, and even commitment. It isn’t that women don’t want to get more massages, or pedicures, or take dance classes, read more, or learn to oil paint. It is true, our lives would probably be a bit better and happier if we did all of the above and more.
Let’s get real, for many of us, self-care is just more thing to add to our lives. One more thing to DO. So what happens if we don’t do self-care, well then we must be failing at it. The concept of self-care can contribute, like so many other parts of our lives, to self-doubt. Especially when that well meaning friend assures us, we can simply find a way to fit it in. She never meant to make you feel bad, but the reality is, expecting us to balance one more thing in our schedule can create stress.
When you are drowning it is not helpful for someone to toss you a gift certificate for yoga classes.
We would like you to know that it is OKAY if you can’t do a bunch of self-care right now. You are not a failure, you are a super woman with a demanding life. We are also sure you are rocking it way more than you think you are.
At UO what we want to stress is that healthcare is different from self-care. It can be just as hard to fit in healthcare, but it is very important. Drinking water, eating a balanced diet, exercising when possible, and visiting your doctor are long term investments in your future happiness. It’s harder to have fun when your body is falling apart. If you take care of your health now, you will be able to better enjoy self-care when you as it fits.
Your skin is the largest organ in your body. Cleansing, moisturizing, wearing sunscreen, and generally caring for your skin does not always require a big commitment of time or even money. Especially when you use UO. It is a fast, simple, effective way to care for your health. The uplifting scent, and the glowing results can also be considered self-care.
See what we did there? We want to help you on your road to both self and health care, and we made it simple.
